Good to know
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The picture is read by your browser on your own computer and is not sent to us or stored. The first time you pick a language, your browser downloads the data it needs to recognize that language; after that it is kept in the browser.
What kind of images work best?
Screenshots of text on a screen come out best: web pages, documents, slides, chats. Scans and clear photos of printed pages work well too. Handwriting, very small text and text on a busy background are recognized less reliably.
Why are some words listed under "Check these words"?
These are the words the recognition was least sure about. Click one to find it in the text and correct it if needed.
Can I read several screenshots into one text?
Yes. Open or paste several images at once, or turn on "Add to the text below" and paste them one after another. Each new piece is added at the end.
